Octopus-Inspired Soft Robotic Gripper

This final-year team project developed a low-cost, FDM 3D-printed soft robotic gripper for minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting. My main responsibility covered the overall mechanical design and vacuum actuation, taking the concept through CAD iterations, simulation, prototyping, testing and system integration. The final TPU 85A prototype cost approximately £0.30 in material and achieved passive adhesion, while testing also identified stiffness and pump configuration as the main areas for further development.
